About the artist

Majbrit Nicolaisen is a landscape artist living in Copenhagen, Denmark.

As a child, Majbrit spent her vacations in England visiting her grandparents, and as a grown up, she has chosen to spend them in Scotland. Her paintings are inspired by, and centered around the breathtaking nature in England and Scotland and the alluring light (and shadows) in Danish nature.

Majbrit generally paints with acrylic, but has also worked with soft oil pastels and oils, which she plan on working with more from now. She is influenced by the Danish painter Otto Frello, with his beautiful detailed nature and fantasy art, but is also influenced by the old japanese (asian) style of painting, with its very thought through composition, simple brush strokes and yet much details.

In weekends and part of the summertime, Majbrit paints in Marienlyst, a place surrounded by tall pine trees and the sea.
